JTHAR's Book Lab open for ALL Joshua Tree Artists
JTHAR is excited to announce the creation and dedication of its new Book Lab, a reference library dedicated to providing a space for research, study and inspiration for its residents.
When Alma Ruiz, JTHAR Honorary Advisory Board Member and longtime senior curator for the Museum of Contemporary Art, offered to donate her art books to the residency, JTHAR Founder Frederick Fulmer and James Berg decided to build a reference library.
"This art reference library was created to help our artists study, gain inspiration and increase their knowledge," Fulmer said.
Built on the JTHAR property adjacent to the residency cottage and studio, the library was designed by longtime JTHAR supporter Steven Brooks and the books were catalogued by Leslie Kooy. Both donated their time and services to JTHAR. Through the construction, Ruiz' donation has grown with additions from other donors. From books about photography to architecture to paintings, the Book Lab is developing into a world-class library.
