As part of the residency program, each artist is invited to live in one of fives homes that are nestled on 5 acres surrounded by the panoramic mountain views. Adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park, where the Sonoran and Mojave deserts meet, each home provides quiet seclusion.
The region, know for its strange Joshua Trees and giant rock formations called Inselbergs, is a land of surprising variety and complexity; it is a land of extreme fragility. To the close observer, a tiny flower bud or the lizard's frantic dash reveals this desert as a place of beauty and life. In addition to the residency program, JTHAR also rents out each house/studio in this inimitable environment to artists needing a quite space to envision their new projects or complete projects. Weekly and monthly rentals.are available throughout the year to artists, who are want to unleash the creative spirit. The 900-square-foot art studio is equipped for any kind of art project. Equipped with work tables, a sink, movable walls, state of the art lighting, a bathroom and kitchen, artists can find refuge here for their projects, ideas, designs and artwork.

Highlands Artist Retreat includes a one bedroom/one bath cabin with full kitchen, patio & Wi-Fi. The Artist Retreat is adjacent to the art studio.

Luna Mesa

Luna Mesa is a One-Room Studio Cabin with Full Kitchen, Bath and Outdoor Jacuzzi. On the Property is a Private Mesa with a 360 View of the Joshua Tree Mountains.It has a queen-size bed and a queen-size pullout couch.
